1)Can you tell me a little bit about your band history? As in age(?) line-up(changes?) country.

Well...We've been working with Antestor since 1993, so we have this year
been musically working for Christ 5 years.

2)How would u describe your music? Death/Black metal??

I would call it black metal, I don't like the term unblack metal.
This is black metal.

3)Who are your influences?

Really most of it influenced by groups of the Norwegian Black metal
mafia. Bands like Emperor, Darkthrone, Satyricon, Seigmen (a norwegian
band goth style, really good), Arcturus,  Dimmu Borgir and Lengsel (a
norwegian christian black metal band, they really rule!). I also listen
a lot to Type 0 Negative but they are not our influences. Personally I
also listen to some local norwegian bands like Autopulver and
Locomotives. They play a regular rock style.

4)And what do you think of secular metal? Do you guys listen to secular bands?

5)Do you guys think that a christian should listen to secular metal?

That depends on the person. I think that when you have the spirit of God
inside you, nothing can hurt you or take you away from God unless you
want to.

6)Have you guys played any live shows? And how did the crowd react to a Christian metal band?

hm...That's quite a long time ago. We played live year in January in a
place called Hønefoss in Norway. The fans really liked us, but we only
had one guitarist then and he thought it sounded bad, the moshing fans
didn't. :) So...it's inspiring to have a crowd. We have also played in
Sweden with some bands, in Helsingör. When we play it is mostly only
christians in the club, sad but true.

7)What kind of response have you had in the Christian and Secular scene?

Well keep getting fan letters now and then, so they know we're there. We
sometimes have a hard time when we try to write back cos we wait so
long, but it is really inspiring to read the letters, so please..send
more letters. We haven't got on the internet yet, but it will not be
long till that happens.

8)Do your Church support what Antestor is doing?

Sadly not.

9)Have Antestor received any death threats from satanists? Or did they show any hostility towards Antestor?

Oh..yes..we've received death threats alright, about 6 I think. All of
them stamped in Bergen in Norway (Infamous bands such as Burzum and
Immortal comes from that city). And we have had some arguing with people
from Old Mans Child (A famous norwegian black metal band), but you know,
when we work for God things like that might happened. Satan's got a big
army, but we must be strong and stand true to our beliefs.

10)Do Antestor practice corpse-painting? And why or why not?

No, we don't. Think it's silly. We have used it before, but not anymore.

11)I've heard that Antestor will be releasing a album called "Martyrium", can you explain what "Martyrium" means?

Well.....those were the times....we had contact with Morphine Records
about releasing Martyrium-cd. Mr. Burrito , the Boss of the company,
called me many times about the release. How ever it was delayed till this
spring, but we haven't heard from them since july-97. Now we are
planning to sign with CACOPHONOUS RECORDS (known for releasing Gehenna,
Dimmu Borgir and many other big black metal bands). We got a contract
from them just before christmas. The contract is on 70(!) pages, heavy
stuff, so we are now searching for someone to help us with it. We have
already recorded more new material called Kingsblood, and our new
keyboardist is just awesome! The problem is that it's been quite along
time since we last rehearsed. We are also planning to change the band
name...the future will tell....

Martyrium means that someone dies for what they believe in, as martyrs.

12)What songs will be on "Martyrium"? And what style will they be in? And when will it be out? And which label will it be on?

We have heard some rumours that Morphine has released it now, but we
still haven't heard anything from the record company. The style in
Martyrium is black metal. Can't say anything more than that, everything
is so diffuse...

13)Could you share some of your lyrical concepts?

Yeah...it is mainly based upon the war against satan and that thou who
fail to believe in God will end up in hell.

14)What do you think of the secular Black metal scene?

We are trying to get into the scene, and I think we are gonna make it.
What I think of the scene? Hard to say, they are very good musicians,
and they are young, mainly about 21 years old. But I think that the
norwegian scene might soon be dead if nothing happends soon, cos there
alot of monymaking record companies who had got their hands on the
bands...like Dimmu Borgir, Covenant and Emperor. In case you haven't
heard I can tell you that Emperor has been contacted by Earache in U.K.
and might sign there. If they do, the underground scene is dead.
 

15)What do you think of the Christian metal scene?

It could be bigger. Here in Norway (sorry for just talking about Norway.
:) we have some pretty good bands, lik Lengsel, Extol, Hidden Paradise,
Vardogg and Poetry of Dreams. I suggest that you keep on looking for
these bands in the future. But Sweden has one of the most biggest
christians bands from Scandinavia right now I think, and that is
Sanctifica. Don't know if you have heard anything of it but they rule. I
got their new demo-tape and I think it is absolutely wild and beautiful.
It's the essence of black metal. Buy it!!

16)Do you think that most Christian metal can't compare to their secular counterparts?

Depends...and I can't see that it would be any goal for them to do that.
They are spreading the word of God, and if they one day can live of it,
then that's just fine with me. Some of the bands surely deserve it to.

17)What is the purpose(or goal) of Antestor??

....Spreading the word of God..

18)Do you guys see that you are fulfilling the purpose(goal)?

at least I see it getting fullfilled, but it is hard keeping going on
doing it. So pray for us!
